On October 21, the Aquatis Aquarium-Vivarium  will open in Lausanne. The largest freshwater aquarium in Europe, it will contain close to 10,000 fish and reptile species from five continents in 46 separate aquariums, terrariums and vivariums. The striking design is by Lausanne-based Richter & Dahl Rocha architects. It will serve as an interactive cultural center, museum and educational institution. The Aquatis Hotel is adjacent, a three-star 143 room property that opened in 2015. When it opens, Aquatis is expected to attract 1,000 visitors a day.
