A Winter Adventure to the Summit of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire’s White Mountains

 

New Hampshire’s Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast, is known for having some of the most dramatic winter weather in the world. The Glen House is offering the SnowCoach Package, which includes a trip on the Mt. Washington SnowCoach, traveling four and half miles up the snow-covered Auto Road to tree line at approximately 4,200 feet on the 6,288-foot mountain. It’s a rare opportunity to experience the most dramatic sub-arctic winter experiences in the White Mountain range. On a clear day, you can see the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast and north into Canada.

After a SnowCoach winter wonderland experience, it’s time get cozy inside The Glen House, with its views of the Presidential Range and its spectacular bar and lounge area that was named “The Most Beautiful Bar in New Hampshire” by Architectural Digest. From the fireplace to the cathedral ceiling and the dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the snow covered White Mountains, it’s the perfect winter hideaway. The Notch Grille is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner while the fire pit on the deck is ideal for après ski. The Glen House also offers a fitness area and indoor pool.

Adjacent to The Glen House is Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center, which offers world-class cross-country skiing, snowshoe and fat biking trails, a snow tubing hill, as well as a fully equipped ski shop for rentals and other gear.  Minutes away from The Glen House, there is alpine skiing at Wildcat Mountain and its sister resort, Attitash Mountain Resort, both now part of Vail Resorts and the Epic Pass. For family-friendly skiing on smaller terrain, Cranmore and Black Mountain are within 30 minutes of the hotel.

Dogs Are Welcome Too

Dogs are always welcome at The Glen House. Just ask for a dog-friendly guest room and bring a loyal four-legged companion along for fun in the snow. Pet Policy: A nightly pet fee of $20 will be charged, which includes treats and the use of a water bowl. Based on supply, which is first-come, first-served.
