The Gran Fondo Hincapie is coming to Bangor this summer, on August 6, 2022.  Called the Ultimate Cycling Experience, this ride with  George Hincapie, one of the leading lights in the cycling world, has created this opportunity for a ride in the region’s rolling hills, open country side, and charming coastal villages,. The challenges are stacked at 83, 53, or 16 miles. That’s followed by the signature Gran Fondo Hincapie Family Festival complete with free food and beverage for you and your family.

The Carrabassett Backcountry Cycle Challenge on July 16, 2022 is an important yearly event on the Maine bike calendar. Capped at 500 total racers (175 racers for the 100k, 200 racers for the 50k, and 125 racers for the 25k), the 100k race is part of the National Ultra Endurance Mountain Bike Race Series. Participation in the race supports Carrabassett Region NEMBA trail maintenance and development, youth bike camps, and the Town of Carrabassett Valley mountain bike race fund for future events. This is the largest yearly fundraiser for the local trails.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is behind the 2022 Maine Woods Rambler will be held on September 24-25, 2022 at the New England Outdoor Center in Millinocket. Teaming up with Katahdin Area Trails, the weekend kicks off on Saturday with a guided trail tour, showing off the newly built mountain bike trails at Hammond Ridge.  The main event is on Sunday, when two routes will be offered with mass-starts: a 50-km and a 100-km ride. A guided trail ride will also take place on Sunday for families that want to check out the trails, with bikes and instruction available courtesy of the Katahdin Gear Library.
