Floating the Bitterroot, Salmon, and Big Hole Rivers on One Western Weekend

Triple Creek Ranch, the acclaimed Relais & Châteaux guest ranch that borders the Bitterroot River, is justly famed for its blue-ribbon, award-winning trophy trout waters and is an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge. In April, it’s offering one of the most incredible fly-fishing packages in the American West.

Triple the Rivers at Triple Creek Ranch is a new opportunity to join professional outfitters from Montana and Idaho, along with fellow anglers, for an epic weekend of river hopping in the West. Led by Triple Creek Ranch’s Executive Chef, Jacob Leatherman, who is also a passionate fly fisherman, this package is designed for avid anglers looking for a long weekend centered on three float trips on legendary Western rivers.

The package offers three full days dedicated to fishing on a different legendary river in Montana and Idaho each day: the Bitterroot, the Salmon, and the Big Hole River systems. Guests will head out with expert outfitters from Fly Fishing Always, Rawhide River Trips, and Big Hole Lodge to guide them through each full day of fishing. The angling is primarily for Rainbow, Westslope Cutthroat, and Brown trout, but there’s a chance of hooking a rare Bull trout, and even Arctic Grayling on the Big Hole, the only freestone river in the lower 48 that has them. Fishing gear and transportation are included, and Triple the Rivers is limited to just 24 anglers, with one to two people per boat in addition to the guide. There’s a maximum of four boats per river each day to avoid overcrowding and spooking the fish.

In late afternoon, anglers return to Triple Creek Ranch, the luxury guest ranch with five-star food, wine, and service, offering peace and seclusion in the Montana wilderness. There are just 25 luxurious western-style log cabins at the Ranch, with king-size beds, Pendleton bedding, and wood-burning fireplaces. Most of them have hot tubs.

There will be plenty of time for fish tales at the Rooftop Bar and Lounge, followed by a multi-course dinner from Chef Jake’s culinary team. The Ranch’s wine cellar has earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence each year since 2012.

For anglers who prefer to visit Triple Creek Ranch at another time, there are complimentary Fly Casting Lessons and Fly Casting Clinics year round, two fully stocked trout ponds on-ranch accessible to all guests, an additional stocked pond private to the ranch’s 3 Bedroom Luxury Ponderosa Cabin accommodation, guided half-day and full-day float trips with experienced anglers on the Bitterroot River with Fly Fishing Always throughout the year, and drift and wade trips with Rawhide River Trips on the Salmon River in July and August for rainbow & cutthroat trout. Rawhide also offers a chance to reel in the ‘big one’ with legendary steelhead trout fishing on the Salmon River mid-October through November, and mid-February through March, as weather permits.

The array of Western activities (many included in the all-inclusive rate) makes a stay at Triple Creek Ranch a deeply rooted, expansive Montana experience. They include horseback riding, cattle drives, hiking, mountain biking, shooting, archery, and ATV adventures. Yoga and guided meditation sessions provide deep relaxation. The Ranch has recently introduced Skydiving experiences for guests to soar above the majestic peaks of the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountains and the winding rivers of Western Montana.

Triple the Rivers at Triple Creek Ranch is $1,200 per person and is in addition to the nightly all-inclusive cabin rate. It’s offered April 16-20, 2026. Visit Triple Creek Ranch for more details.
