Cross Country, Snowshoeing & More at the Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center

The Glen House, the award-winning 68-room hotel at the base of Mt. Washington, offers much more than cozy winter accommodations.  Guests of  The Glen House have some of the best cross country trails in New England literally at their doorstep. They can go across the road to Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center, where they can get ski passes and rent cross country ski equipment as well as snowshoes. There’s also fat biking trails — and rentals — as well as a snow tubing hill.

There’s 45 kilometers of classic and skate groomed trails at the base of Mt. Washington as well as groomed and backcountry trails for snowshoers.  Younger visitors can head out for snow tubing traditional walk up/slide down style and requires advance reservations while fat biking is available any day that snow conditions allow. Learn-to-ski lessons at The Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center are available at an additional charge.

Minutes away from The Glen House, there is alpine skiing at Wildcat Mountain and its sister resort, Attitash Mountain Resort, part of Vail resorts and the Epic Passholders. For family-friendly skiing on smaller terrain, Cranmore and Black Mountain are within 20 to 30 minute drive from the hotel.

The Glen House has well-designed rooms with mountain views. The hotel also boasts a spectacular bar area, which was named “The Most Beautiful Bar in New Hampshire” by Architectural Digest.

It offers a fireplace and dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the snow covered Presidential Range. There’s a fitness area and indoor pool. The fire pit on the deck is perfect for après ski.  The Notch Grille provides daily breakfast and dinner service with a range of comfort food favorites.
